Ghana reach 2013 African U-17 Championship

Ghana will be one of the eight sides competing for the 2013 African Under-17 Championship after edging South Africa in the final qualifier on Saturday.

The Black Starlets won 2-1 to complete back-to-back wins over the Amajinbos at the Essipong Stadium after winning the first leg 3-2 a fortnight ago.

Ghana, thus finished the two-leg tie on a 5-3 aggregate scoreline.

Emmanuel O. Boateng opened the scoring through a penalty under five minutes into the start of the game before Emmanuel Essigba doubled Ghana's lead midway into the half.

South Africa got a consolation in the second half but it was not enough to trouble the Black Starlets who now march to next year's finals in Morocco.

Ghana missed the previous Championship two years ago but coach Paa Kwesi Fabin will lead the Black Starlets, two-time World and African champions to the finals.
