Ghana propose continental championship to FIFA

Chief Executive of Ghana Premier League club Wa All Stars Samuel Oduro Nyarko is on the verge of making history by having a proposed continental championship approved by FIFA.

The proposed championship is meant to have the formation of continental teams to battle each other similar to the World Cup format.

If approved, an all-star team will be formed of players belonging to their respective continents to face each other.

So for instance, Africa will form a universal team comprising best players from the continent, including Yaya Toure, Obi Mikel and Asamoah Gyan to battle say a team from the European continent which includes Cristiano Ronaldo, Frank Ribery and Robin Van Persie.

Super stars such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Radamel Falcao will also headline a continental team from South Americas with another from Asia to battle on a competitive stage.

FIFA have indicated their interest in adopting the proposal in a response to Oduro Nyarko but are faced with the challenge of a congested football calendar.

Once adopted, Ghana will be credited as the member association responsible for mooting the idea of the championship – in particular the Wa All Stars chief who will be rewarded with a huge financial package as royalty.
