Ghana must return to yellow and black jerseys – Nana Fitz

Veteran football administrator Nana Fitz has revisited the age-long topic of the Black Stars returning to the yellow and black jersey colours.

Since the 2002 AFCON where the jersey was last used, there have been appeals for Ghana to revert to that design with the justification that it represents the country better than the white-coloured jerseys.

There also remain a myth and superstition that draw a correlation between Ghana’s consistent AFCON failures and the rejection of the yellow and black branded jerseys.

For decades, Nana Fitz has been following the national team and has opined that a return to that jersey will bode well for the success of the team.

He contends that that jersey color will make the Stars more appealing to Ghanaians as the nation could connect with the colours which represent the nation.

He revealed in an interview with Adeiso-based Tru FM that he urged the leadership of Normalization Committee to as part of the process change Ghana’s jersey colours.

"I earlier told Dr. Kofi Amoah to go back for our national colours during the NC's administration because whenever we go to any tournament you see all the teams in their national colours. Can't you see Argentina, Brazil, and Nigeria and other countries? They are all using their national colours.

"How can Ghana be using the white Jersey whilst the supporters will be wearing the national colours. The white is not part of our colours. The colours demonstrate the flag and the flag also represent the nation”.

“You can't just go for any Jersey for the national team. We have national colours. Let's use the national colours. There is no white colour in our flag so why are we using it?" He quizzed.
