We’ll correct mistakes against Niger - Mercy Tagoe

Ghana’s Black Queens assistant Coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo wants to correct her side’s mistakes in their defeat to Cote d’ Ivoire as they face Niger on Friday.

Ghana lost 1-0 to the host in the ongoing WAFU Women’s Cup of Nations tournament.

The Black Queens could be blaming themselves after failing to make use of the numerous chances that came their way especially in the first half.

Striker Jane Ayieyam, Priscilla Okyere and Captain Portia Boakye all failed to find the back of the net with some good opportunities.

Mercy Tagoe who is acting as the stand-in Coach in the absence of Sellas Tetteh has drawn positives from the defeat to Cote d’ Ivoire.

“We were the better side on the day, we spoke to the girls before the game, yes the Ivoirians were more physical but we were more skilful and good on the ball,” she said after the game.

“I think we could have buried the game in the first half because we had many opportunities. They scored from the only chance that they had.

“This should tell you that we have a lot work to do, we will try and work on our goal scoring before meeting our next opponent.”

Ghana will take on Burkina Faso in the final group game on Sunday.
