Contrary to what officials of Elmina Sharks want football fans to believe, that, Referee Yakubu Nuhu Liman, who handled the Ghana Premier League, match day eight fixture against Medeama on Wednesday, “tripped and fell” thereby injuring himself; it has emerged that, the referee was rather stoned by angry fans of Elmina Sharks.

The Premier League Board and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have in the last 24hours received the referee’s report, which was copied to the Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG), Joe Debrah, who told Cape Coast-based Okokroko FM that, his officer was stoned.

“It’s disheartening… It’s worrying to have a referee treated this way in this modern world with civilization” said the shocked RAG Chairman who rubbished the content of a statement issued by Elmina Sharks on Thursday morning.

“It’s not true…Let’s just do a simple analogy. What’s the work of the 4th Referee?… If it’s true that, the referee fell, why didn’t the 4th Referee handle the match? Simple logic…

"He didn’t do that because he saw that his colleague had been hit with a stone. That’s why the 4th Referee declined to handle the match.

“I have received a copy of the referee’s report. I say he was stoned.

"I have spoken with all the five people including the match commissioner. They all say, the referee was stoned.”
