Ghana - Germany: Ratings

Ratings

Richard Kingson – 7 Best show in the last few games. Solid and prevented some obvious goals, especially from Cacau and Ozil. Good one, Olele.

John Pantsil – 6.5 Also had an improved game than vs Serbia and Australia. Tried going forward more, something he did not do in the last two games. Made a few errors especially as he – and the rest of the defence – could have done more to stop Ozil’s goal.

John Mensah – 7 Cool and composed, made many last gasp tackles that were timely. Made sure Cacau did not do much.

Jonathan Mensah – 7.5 Again, for a player with a lack of experience at the very top, he was class. But he still needs loads of playing time with top teams. Am I alone in saying that he is an automatic third choice behind John Mensah and Vorsah?

Hans Sarpei – 7 Had a good game, even though his zonal marking gave us the shivers at times. Against more pro-active opposition, man-to-man play may be needed. Still, not a lot of runs into attack on his side, but really, he was good.

Kevin-Prince Boateng – 6 At times, he overdid his job but he took responsibility for stability in the middle on many fronts. Was cool-headed especially with all the pre-match hype about him…

Anthony Annan – 8 His height does not stop him from being immense. Held the ball well and distribution was spot on.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 6 Tsk tsk tsk. Wondering where his confidence has gone. Mostly quiet and not justifying the hype in this World Cup.

Andre Ayew – 8 Still playing beyond his years. Calm behind the ball and always a potential Man of the Match winner. Cutting into the midfield has become a specialty of his but once a while overdoes it.

Prince Tagoe – 4 Has been ridiculed much and rightly so. Is he being played out of position? Whatever it is, Tagoe is gunning for Flop of the Team in this World Cup. No killer instinct whatsoever.

Asamoah Gyan – 7 Played well, run into spaces but at the risk of sounding droll, he has to score from open play if he is to justify the lone striker responsibility!

Subs

Sulley Muntari – 5 Same Muntari, was quite dangerous with long balls but did not play with the team
