Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed plans to develop pitches across the regions of the country.
The standard pitches would help market the local league and minimize avoidable injuries.
The Executive Committee of the Ghana FA has prioritized the development of the pitches as a measure to promote the game.
The Ashanti region will benefit from the first phase of the project expected to start soon.
“We (GFA) will start developing pitches. We want to develop about 15 of them. we have discussed it at the Executive Committee level," he told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM
“The project will start from the Ashanti region, but since it is a national policy every region will have their turn."
The new pitches would have facilities such as water for pitch maintenance.
The GFA is using the funds from FIFA into the development of infrastructure to promote the growth of the game in the West African nation.
