Al Ahly legend Felix Aboagye has urged the Ghana FA to stand by under-fire coach Avram Grant.

Grant replaced Kwesi Appiah as Black Stars two years ago but has endured a mixed reign.

The former Chelsea manager led the team to a second-placed finish at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

But the Israeli has endured a frustrating spell in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers despite guiding the team to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The four-time African champions have picked just a point from two games in the qualifying race to Russia 2018 and lie at a distant third in group E.

They could only manage a listless 0-0 draw against Uganda at home and lost 2-0 against Egypt in Alexandria to complicate matters.

There have been widespread calls for the 61-year-old to be sacked but former international Felix Aboagye has urged the Ghana FA to stick with Grant to build stability.

“I think we should maintain him and allow him to take us to the Africa Cup, his contract expires after the Africa Cup, maybe he might go after then and never return,” to told GHone TV

“So we should just allow him to stay. At this point we have to pay him and all that.

"We don’t have enough time as well, the Cup of Nations starts in two months time so we should keep him and can leave after then.”

Grant has vowed to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations to placate local fans.
