Ghana @60 cup is 'Christmas gift' to fans - Inusah Musah

Hearts beat bitterest rivals Kotoko 3-1 on aggregate to lift the trophy Hearts beat bitterest rivals Kotoko 3-1 on aggregate to lift the trophy

Hearts of Oak defender Inusah Musah has dedicated Sunday's Ghana's 60th Independence Anniversary Cup to their fans for their unflinching support throughout the year.

With a 3-1 win in the first leg, the Phobians held their own in Kumasi on Sunday, forcing arch-rivals Asante Kotoko to a 0-0 stalemate in the reverse fixture.

“We are all happy to give our fans something to smile about in this festive period,” Musah told his club's official website.

“They have been great for the team throughout the year and even though we missed out on the league and FA Cup, they still stood beside us and carried us over the line.

“You saw the support from our fans [despite how our season went] and we know each time we play for Hearts that, they are always 100% behind us.

“This cup [Ghana at 60-anniversary cup] that we won is a token for our fans for the way they supported us in 2017 and we dedicate the trophy to them. Hopefully, we will add more trophies in 2018.”

The year 2017 certainly did not go as planned for Hearts.

The Phobians finished third in the Ghana Premier League, prolonging their wait for the title since 2009, before falling to Kotoko in the FA Cup final.
