GTTA organizes National Youth Championship

Accra, March 16, GNA - The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will organize a National Youth Championship from Thursday, March 20 to Friday, March 21 at the D.G. Hathramani Sports Hall of the Ohene Djan Stadium.

The two-day event meant for players under 15 and 18 is to select the final team for the Africa Youth Table Tennis Championship slated for Egypt next month.

Kwame Amponfi, Secretary General of the GTTA told the GNA Sports on Monday that five regions namely; Volta, Ashanti, Eastern, Central and Greater Accra will present three boys and three girls each for the Under 18 division, against the two each by Brong-Ahafo, Western, Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions. He added that all ten regions will present two competitors each for both sexes for the U-15 division.

Mr Amponfi reminded competitors to come along with their Passports or Birth Certificates to confirm their ages. At stake is a giant trophy and attractive cash prizes for competitors who excel in each division. The two-day event is being sponsored by the National Sports Council and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports.
