GTTA elects new President

Accra, May 24, GNA - The Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) last Friday, elected a five member executive committee to run the affairs of t he Association for a four year term. The new elected Executive Committee will be headed by Rev. Richmond Quarcoo as President with Mawuko Afadzinu as the Vice President. Other elected members of the Committee are; Isaac Osei - Treasurer a nd Dr. Esther Obiriki Lamptey, National Women's Organiser. Kwame Amponfi Jr and Mr. Anthony Owusu Ansah remain General Secretar y and Chief Coach of the Association respectively and continue as appointee s of the National Sports Council (NSC) to serve on the Committee. 16 GTTA affiliate bodies sent their delegates to the Congress for th e elections. The delegates were from the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Easter n, Volta, Ashanti, Central and Greater Accra Regional Table Tennis Associations. Other representatives included from the Veterans Association, Athlet ics Association, Umpires Association, Coaches Association, the Security Servi ces Sports Association (SESSA) and the Ghana Polytechnics Sports Association. Sqdn. Ldr(Rtd) Ebo Bartels, the outgoing Chairman who chaired the Congress congratulated the newly elected members and charged them to continue with the gains made in the sport. The elected Executive Members were sworn into office by Mr. E. H. Hornsby Odoi, the Chief Administrative Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC). He tasked the new Executives to be proactive and not to rely only on

Government for funding of their programmes but to solicit for funds from the private and corporate bodies to develop the sport.
