GT Bank wins Tamakloe Memorial Polo

Accra, Nov. 25, GNA - Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana Limited (GT Bank) defeated XEX Limited 4-3 to win this year's Joyce Tamakloe Memorial Cancer Foundation Polo Championship played at the Accra Polo Grounds on Saturday.

The individual efforts of Jamil Ibrahim ensured that the bankers sailed unto the winning trail when he netted the first goal in the second minute of the First Chukka.

Rasheed Ibrahim was on hand to score the second goal for GT Bank when he scored from an acute angle three minutes later but XEX Limited fought back gamely to score two quick goals through Sulemana Iddrisu in the 3rd and fourth minutes of the Third Chukka.

The Fourth Chukka saw GT Bank scoring two more goals through Damian Duncan and Gabriel Omde with Azam Abed pulling one back for XEX Limited. In the opening match of the championship, Auto Parts Limited beat Interplast Ghana Limited 3-1 to win the Otumfuo trophy. George Agyemang scored two of the goals with Sowe Senior scoring the third for Auto Parts while Gordon Gopaldas netted the only goal for Interplast.

The one-day event, which was jointly sponsored by Interplast Ghana Limited, Guaranty Trust Bank Ghana Limited and XEX Limited, was aimed at raising funds for the Joyce Tamakloe Memorial Cancer Foundation. Mr John Dramani Mahama, Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi was assisted by Mr Dolapo Ogundimu, Managing Director of the Bank and Alhaji Yusif Ibrahim, the Board Chairman to present prizes to the winners.
