GPL Roundup: Duncan wins on Kotoko debut, Fiamenyo hits double

New Asante Kotoko Coach David Duncan guided the Porcupine Warriors to clinch a 3-1 win over Bechem United in his debut Premier League assignment at the Bechem Park on Sunday. A brace from Michael Akuffo and another goal from dare-devil striker Ahmed Toure ensured the Kumapem lads moved four places up from the 14th spot to the 10th position on the log sheet. In-form Noah Martey converted a spot-kick to give Bechem United a consolation goal.

Elsewhere at the Accra Stadium, Gilbert Fiamenyo rediscovered his scoring magic as he bagged a brace in Hearts of Oak’s 2-0 home win over bottom-placed BA United, ruining the debut of the new Coach of the Sunyani based side, Stephen Ahenkan. The home triumph pushes Hearts fives places up from the 13th position to the 8th spot.

Sekondi Hasaacas slipped three places down to the 11th spot after a Daniel Mpraim own goal gifted AshantiGold SC a 1-0 win at the Obuasi Len Clay. The victory ensured the Miners regained their 6 points lead at the top of the table ahead of second placed Aduana Stars, which lost 2-1 to WAFA in Sogakope on Saturday. Martin Antwi and Bashir Umar netted for WAFA against Aduana, who got their goal through Richard Arhin’s expertly converted spot kick.

Heart of Lions also experienced a humpty dumpty fall on the league table, falling seven places down from the 5th to the 12th spot after suffering a 1-0 loss to Berekum Chelsea, which moved three places up to the 6th position. Latif Salifu scored the match-winner for Berekum Chelsea.
