Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee GOC has hailed the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) and the Korean Embassy in Ghana for coming up with the exciting two day 2017 9th Korea Cup which was held at the Accra Sports Stadium on December 8 and 9, 2017
After watching the Ghanaian Taekwondo athletes, he was impressed and adviced them to keep their performance up as well as train hard to improve.
He noted that sports is good for the youth, and advocates that parents and schools heads should encouraged their students to take part in sports.
He hinted that there are many benefits in sports and hoped that the youth of Ghana are going to venture into sports like Taekwondo, Judo, Weightlifting, Tennis, Badminton, Cricket, Hockey etc.
According to the GOC President, sports performers are also ambassadors, hence they are highly respected.
He said with the Commonwealth Games coming up in Australia next year, it would be an opportunity to expose talents.
Mr. Fred Lartey Otu, President of the GTF said there are talents in Ghana, however lack of many competitions has been a problem. He thanked the Korean Embassy for their support and hoped that the next competition would be better organized, and prayed other nationals would participate to offer the Ghanaians some international challenge.
The gold medal winners of the 9th Korea Cup were Jessica Quadrago from Burkina Faso, Merfi Ati, Grace Ashie, Joshua Aryeetey, Amadou Abbas, Dibo Moussa, Bernard Sarfo. Augustus Agozo, Edmund Segbenu, Benson Addo and Alex Kumi.
They expressed joy and satisfaction with the hampers and cash prizes.
