GHALCA preparing petition to demand accountability from NC

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) is readying a petition for the Ghana FA’s Normalisation Committee to account for their stewardship to stakeholders.

GHALCA in a general assembly meeting on Tuesday decided to petition for the GFA and copy CAF, FIFA, the Sports Ministry and Parliamentary Select Committee for a meeting.

The meeting, according to GHALCA, is to have the NC update stakeholders on the work they’ve done so far since their appointment.

The meeting is also to give stakeholders a detailed schedule with timelines on how the NC will discharge their mandates within their extended time.

The GHALCA is beginning to feel that the NC is likely set to call for an extension of time again after being left out of the blue regarding the progress of activities by the NC.

The NC was appointed in September 2018 and was given an initial mandate of six months with the following terms of reference:

-To run the day to day administration of football in Ghana
Review the statutes of the Ghana FA to be in conformity with FIFA regulations, and
-To ensure elections are held to make way for a new executive committee for the Ghana FA.

But after their initial six months, the second and third mandates, which are the most important ones, were not executed.

FIFA extended their mandate in March 2019 and appointed a task force to augment and accelerate the work of the NC.

GHALCA – the welfare body of all clubs in the country, however, are unaware of the progress of activity by the NC, calling on the committee for a meeting to be briefed on the progress of activity and when they intend to bring their role to an end.
