GHALCA General Assembly calls for a fixed format for pre-season tournaments

General Assembly members of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), have tasked the Executive Committee of the Association, to make permanent arrangements for the off-season tournaments.

This request was made at the Association’s Annual General Assembly for the year 2017, at their Head Office in Accra.

The annual offseason tournament, which started as the Top 4 Tournament for the best four finishers of the Premier League, has seen inconsistencies in its arrangement in recent years.

The tournament, which was changed from Top Tour to G6 last year, has now been changed again this year to G8.

Though the General Assembly passed for the G8 to be played this year, they expressed dissatisfaction with the rate at which the format of the tournament is changed.

They, therefore, charged the Executives Body of the Association to put proper plans in place to arrest the situation.

Mr. Kudjoe Fianoo, Chairman of GHALCA admitted to the concerns of the members, adding they were going to work on it as soon as possible.

“We talked about the G6 and it has been accepted but members felt that there is a need for us to have a clear-cut pre-season competition.

“It shouldn’t be Top Four today and G8 another time. So in the next couple of days, we would be setting up a committee to look at that aspect,” he said.
