GH Sporting Club, a sports event outfit based in Columbus, Ohio in the United States of America is organizing a mini football tournament dubbed, “Champions League Cup 2018“, for ex-Ghanaian players based in different states in the USA.
Ike Amoako, the CEO of GH Sporting Club, is the one leading the organization of this championship.
The tourney which will be held at the NCAA Park in Ohio, will start at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 1, 2018, is sponsored by Mobile Solutions.
There will be six (6) teams from six (6) different states competing for honours on the day.
Featuring for Team Ohio are former Liberty Professionals attacking midfielder Kwame Frimpong Pele, former Tema Youth deadly forward Abeeku Gaisie, former Asante Kotoko midfield dynamo Stephen Oduro and host of other stars.
Former Hearts of Oak striker and former Ghana league goal king Ishmael Addo, will be among the players to feature for Team Worcester; while former Accra Great Olympics and Asante Kotoko defender Aziz Ansah and former Ebusua Dwarfs, Accra Hearts of Oak, AshantiGold and Asante Kotoko midfield general, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour, will prominently feature for Team New York.
For Team New Jersey, former goalkeeper of Accra Hearts of Oak, Sammy Adjei and former Hearts of Oak dependable defender Stephen Tetteh, will beef up the team against the other five teams.
This tournament is organized yearly in order to bring all the former Ghanaian footballers who are domiciled in the USA together, in a bid to foster unity and find solutions to the various challenges confronting them, as they also reminisce, their good days spent on the green turf.
