GFA should account for Japan friendly – Sports Minister

Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuije has requested for the details covering the international friendly between the Local Black Stars and Japan U-23 on May 11.

The match was played at the Best Amenity Stadium in Saga two weeks ago and Maxwell Konadu's side were beaten 3-0 without any accountability to the ministry.

Vanderpuije argues that his outfit must be briefed on the importance and financial benefits of international friendlies involving all national teams.

“I will say it clearly that I want the right thing to be done, I will not allow anyone to disrespect my position.

“If somebody offends the law, the law will deal with the person – so if the GFA decides that they will not inform us anytime they are going to have a friendly international for the Black Stars or any of the national teams – I really don’t believe they will do that.

“If it was hindsight I have reminded them (GFA), my letter has gone to them and I have indicated to them my displeasure about the action they took and I don’t think they would want to do that by having problems with me because I will not want to have problems with them”, he told Happy FM.
