GFA's Statement on Division One,Zone one is Capricious

The Ghana Football Association's press statement, 'No Promotion in Division One League, Zone One,' feels like a rule from yesterday full of preconceptionwww.sports24gh.com can reveal.

According to our cables, certain powers are forcing the GFA to demote Techiman City Football Club, the eventual winners of the zone under discussion in other to favour Real Tamale United (RTU) which placed second on the league ladder.

The FA claim that due to cases before the judicial bodies of the association, it would be unfair to declare a winner in zone one now since the outcome of the cases can affect the current standings.

Fairly said, but the GFA has been acting in bad faith since an alleged bribery case was leveled against Techiman City to the extent that the official website of the association,www.ghanafa.org magically failed to update the zone 1 table after match day 30 where the Brong Ahafo based club leapfrogged to the top spot at the expense of RTU.

Apart from that, the two other clubs from zone two (Dwarfs) and zone three (Dreams fc) whom the FA duly declared their qualifications to the Premier League have certain cases leveled against them as well.

Interestingly, the Ethics Committee, which sat on the alleged bribery case between Techiman City and Wa African United was not properly constituted and the GFA's own Appeals Committee has affirmed this undeniable fact so why the rush?

According to the Appeals Committee which is a sub judicial body of the Ghana Football Association, the Ethics Committee was not properly constituted and thus lacked the locus to investigate the matter in question and has ordered the General Secretary to refer the case under the microscope to a properly constituted judicial body.

To make matters worse, the vice chairman of the Ethics Committee, DCOP Kofi Boakye who chaired the committee in all its deliberations in the absence of the substantive chairman, Nana Ampofo Adjei is not a lawyer is not a lawyer with 10 years experience at the bar.

This contravenes article 43(30 of the GFA's own status and articles 4(1) and (2) of the code of Ethics. Article 4(1) of the Code of Ethics reads, "There shall be an Ethics Committee which shall consist of:

Chairman
Vice Chairman
The other members.
According to article 4(2) of the same Code of Ethics, The Chairman and the Vice Chairman shall be lawyers with a minimum of ten (10) years experience at the bar.

So why the sprint to prejudicing a case before your own court GFA or is it to influence the outcome of the alleged case against Techiman City?

For something that prejudices have the capabilities to influence you unfairly so that you form an unreasonable opinion about something.

All eyes are watching.
