Deputy Sports Minister, Vincent Oppong Asamoah has questioned the achievements of the Ghana football Association over the years in terms of Youth development in the country.
According to Oppong Asamoah the country’s grassroots development in football has collapsed under the Kwesi Nyantekyi’s reign comparatively.
The overly concentration on the Black Stars is the bane of our woeful development and this could destroy the foundation of our football.
“Most of the GFA media partners will always jump to their defense with the political clout of we are always guilty and they are always right. But to me the bottom-line we have to sit down and ask ourselves whether football is growing or not.
“If you ask me we started very well at the youth level every football nation is measured from youth football. As for the Black Stars you can call them from over the world but to me the grassroots is the foundation is the basis of football and we are not getting it right”, he told Starr Sports.
Meanwhile in the FIFA U-17 and U-20 youth competitions, the last time Ghana ruled the World was in 1995 and 2009 respectively.
