GFA, football clubs should be ready for coronavirus - Dr Pamboe

CAF Medical Officer, Dr Prince Pamboe has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to consider putting in place measures should the coronavirus pandemic hit the country.

The Covid-19 has become a global epidemic which has affected the sporting industry leading to a lot of competitions being cancelled or being played behind closed doors.

According to Dr Prince Pamboe travel restrictions and avoiding crowded places are the best ways to avoid the virus at the moment.

Speaking in an interview with Happy Sports, the former Black Stars Medical officer called on football clubs and the Ghana Football Association to be ready should the virus hits the country.

“To protect ourselves there must be restriction and controlled movement. If we are going to bring in foreign players to this country we have to consider if it’s important at this particular point in time”.

“I will advise the clubs and the Ghana Football Association to take precautionary measures in this coronavirus issue.

He entreated the Football Association to consider playing some of their league and national team games behind closed doors.

“I will entreat the Football regulatory body to help with the coronavirus issue. In certain countries games are been played behind closed doors”.
