The Ghana Football Association Normalization Committee has sent a goodwill message to the senior national football team, the Black Stars in Ismalia, Egypt.

Ghana will launch her 2019 African Cup of Nations campaign against the Squirrels of Benin on Tuesday June 25, at City of Ismailia Sports Stadium at 10pm local (8pm)

A message to the team signed by the President of the GFA-NC said that the Black Stars must win their opening game to boost their confidence and set them on the path of a successful tournament.

“We are very confident that the team will put up a spirited performance to win the opening match convincingly. We want to assure you that the GFA-NC and the good people of Ghana are solidly behind you so we urge the team to avoid any complacency in order to triumph at the AFCON 2019”.

Dr. Kofi Amoah also took the opportunity to urge the holders of the Black Stars to ensure that the team is well conditioned and prepared physically, mentally and psychologically ahead of the match.

"I would like to acknowledge the tremendous support of His Excellency President Akufo Addo and the Minister of Youth and Sports Hon Isaac Asiamah without which, we would not have had one of the best pre tournament preparations a national team has undertaken in recent times.

It goes without saying that Hon Perry Okudzeto, Deputy Sports Minister, has also been a vital player as a liaison between the GFA-NC and government".

The statement thanked other key stakeholders involved with the team.

"It is worthy to take note of the stoic role of our headline sponsor GNPC, through the focused leadership of Dr KK Sarpong.

The GFA NC believes that this team work philosophy has been strengthened to encourage every single Ghanaian to feel a connection with the team".

Dr Amoah urged all Ghanaians to remember the Black Stars in their prayers. He also appealed lovers and sympathisers of the team both home and abroad to rock national colours with pride to show their support for the Black Stars.
