GFA Heave Big Sign Of Relief

?Court cases discontinued!!!

Following series of meetings and the subsequent ultimatum to the clubs that have interest in the numerous court cases, GFA got a breather this afternoon when news got to town that most of the plaintiffs have withdrawn their cases.

In Sunyani where the FA had assembled legal gurus to contest the case against it by Kwame Addo Kuffour (Plaintiff) of Abesim near Sunyani, the lawyer for the plaintiff, Kwadwo Adu Bosompem served notice of DISCONTINUANCE to the Sunyani High Court this afternoon. The notice read: ?Please take notice and notice is hereby given that the plaintiff herein has today 5th march, 2004 wholly discontinued his action against the defendant (GFA) herein with liberty to re-apply?.

In an interview with Space Fm this evening, the chairman of GFA, Mr. Ben Koufie confirmed receipt of the notice and added that the case at Kumasi High Court has also been withdrawn. He added that since Goldfields has declared its disinterest in the famous Cape Coast High Court Ruling, a new league table may be out soon showing deduction of twelve points from their accumulated points. By calculation, this would bring Goldfields to 13th position with 30 points.

On the issue of whether teams would be added to the existing 16 clubs as speculated, he said it is only the Congress that has the mandate to take such decision. ?For now relegation rule is in force until congress decides otherwise?, he stressed.

Stay tuned for more!
