GFA Chairmanship: Nyaho, Amoah Confirmed

According to Graphic Sports, the much-awaited two names of government nominees for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Chairmanship and membership of the august football controlling body in the country have been dropped.

Sources close to the powerhouse told the Graphic Sports that the two obvious names ? Dr Nyaho Tamakloe and Dr. Kofi Amoah ? were given to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in a sealed envelope at the weekend.

With the submission of the two names, the stage is now set for the acceptance or rejection of these nominees during the election at the annual GFA Congress tentatively fixed for this month when both candidates will be presented to the Executive Council by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Ministry of Youth and Sports sources predict an easy walk through for both candidates, one of whom (Dr Kofi Amoah), it is believed would step down at the congress for Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe to go unopposed as the GFA chairman and the former automatically becoming a member of the FA.

However, inside sources at the level of those with the franchise to vote, particularly at the all-powerful Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), swear that the two government nominees will go through a torrid time at the Congress.

The reason being that both Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe and Dr. Amoah are not favourites of the GHALCA elite who think both candidates do not have the capability of salvaging Ghana Football from the depths that it has sunk.

However, between now and the D-Day for the elections, GFA Congress watchers expect some horse-trading between the Sports Ministry and the clubs? representatives for some compromises to be reached to get the next successor to Ben Koufie in time.
