GFA should consider clubs in distributing FIFA money - King Faisal

King Faisal FC wants the Ghana Football Association to distribute a chunk of the FIFA Covid-19 support money to help local clubs deal with the financial strain brought on by the CoronaVirus pandemic.

The Ghana FA has received US$500,000 from FIFA to financially ameliorate their condition during this period of inactivity.

The money is to help cater for the administrative cost of the GFA although several clubs have requested they be supported with a portion of the money.

King Faisal’s Public Relations Officer, Awal Mohammed believes that depsite not being entitled to the funds, it would make sense if the country’s football governing body considers easing the burden of the clubs who are reeling in the current situation.

He told Citi Sports “For me I believe very well that yes, the money paid by FIFA to the FA, is for the FA’s administrative work but the current situation of the clubs here have been very difficult.

“Most of our monies have been matchday revenues, and because of the fact that almost two months now we have not played football in Ghana, the clubs and for that matter King Faisal in particular we are finding it very difficult to get some monies to run the club and pay our players.

“So it will only be wise for the GFA to consider in giving some of the money to the clubs so at least it will help us in settling the salaries of the players,” he concluded.
