GAHA Pepsi Hockey Results: Day 2

The Greater Accra Pepsi sponsored Hockey league entered into the second week of their hockey calendar with some interesting results. The first match on the day took off at exactly 6.30am on Saturday 10th May 2003, between Marine Sticks and Multi sticks.

This match most Hockey fans dubbed the match of the week and it really merits it, since it was full of action from one goal post to the other and it was not obvious as to which ream could carry the the day until the end of the last whistle was blown the signal the end of the game .Multi sticks in their quest to sound their presence in the second week drawn first blood from a penalty corner which was beautifully converted by Ato Hagan in the early hours of the game.

This goal gingered up the Marine boys to lift up their game and pilled a lot of pressure on Multi sticks which actually yielded results as they came up scoring 3 good and legitimate goals in the 12th, 27th and 30th minutes inside the first half of the titanic, grueling match.these goals came from the sticks of Charles Agbeko,Patrick Ohene and Dominic Ackah respectively. When the game resumed play in the second half Multi stick who were down by 3 goals to 1 put up another spectacular performance to come on level terms with Marine sticks ,from goals scored by Ato Hagan ,his second on the day and Edmund Ayeetey in the 42nd and 49th minutes respectively. The stage right at the 50th minute was set at 3 apiece and the only question on the minds of all the fans present was who would carry the day.

However 10 minutes later Patrick Taylor proved his worth as the current best hockey player by coming up with a goal in the 60th minute which became the decider as to who takes the maximum 3 points at stake. Multi sticks on the other hand in the last 10 minutes took the game up to Marine probing the Are a of marine sticks but the absence of their prolific goal scorer and top scorer last year came to bear as they failed to grab the equalizer, as the last whistle was blown to end the proceedings.

The second macth of the day was played between Veterans and Exchequers of Bank of Ghana. Exchequers won the match by beating veterans 6 goals to nothing. Goals for the Bankers were Scored by Alfred Armah in the 7th,46th and 60th minutes his hatrick this season and Tarley Richard in the 28th,57th with Benjamin Tarley in the 36th minute.

The third game on the day saw another baptism of goals from the Star Studded team Trustful Trustees of SSNIT as they white washed their opponents Citizens hockey club by 15 goals to nothing. It is believed that, the best from the SSNIT boys is not landed yet hence no team could really tell what could happen should they play against the team all is calling the "REAL MALDRID". NO wonder they are tipped to win the league this season.

The forth match of the day also witnessed another baptism of goals from CEPS as the deciplined Reformers by trouncing them 12 goals th nothing. CEPS have started very well and could prove a mouthful when they meet the GAINTS of the game Exchequers and Trustees.

Financiers collected all the 3 points at stake without having to drop a sweat in the last game of the day.
