France to support lesser-known sports

Madam Anne Sophie Avè, the French Ambassador to Ghana, has re-affirmed France’s readiness to support the city of Accra in the development of lesser-known sports.

She made this known on Tuesday when she paid a courtesy call on Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the Accra mayor.

Sophie Avè announced that France was willing to partner the AMA to construct a multi-purpose sports complex in Accra to help unearth talents among the youth.

The mayor of Accra stated that investing in lesser-known sports would help unearth great talents, which would go a long way to curb unemployment in Accra.

"We have prioritised sports because we believe it remains the easiest and the most convenient way of dealing with issues of unemployment in the city,” he said.

He pledged his commitment to provide the needed support for the project to see the light of day.

The two also exchanged views on cooperation, economy and trade through sister city arrangements.
