A Ghanaian footballer, Sadick Adams, who plays for Saudi Arabian side, Ansar, on Wednesday presented food items worth GH?1,000 to the Compassion is Love in Action (CiLiA) Orphanage at Yawhima in the Sunyani Municipality.
The items comprised bags of rice, sugar, loaves of bread, cartons of milk, second hand clothing, variety of soap and detergents and a quantity of toilet rolls.
The 23 year old Adams who was among the 2007 national Starlets squad, which featured in the Under 17 World Cup in South Korea, told the GNA Sports at Yawhima that the donation of the items was his personal contribution towards the upkeep of the children.
He noted that the only way to give back to society was to assist the needy and vulnerable and pledged his readiness to support the Home in the proper upbringing and development of the 41 unfortunate children.
Mrs. Mercy Sarpong, Headmistress at the Orphanage said the Home currently has 17 girls and 24 boys who need a lot of support and therefore thanked Adams for his kind gesture and appealed to other philanthropists and other individuals to come to the aid of the Home to be better placed to cater for the needs of the children.**
