Footballer dies on the field in the W/R

Information reaching the Sportscrusader.com has it that residents of Sefwi Komiama, a community in the Juaboso District of the Western Region are in shock after a 20 year old footballer, Kofi Nicholas popularly known as Anelka met his untimely death on a football field on Tuesday, July 14.

According to spectators, Anelka instantly bowed and laid on the field while playing football with his friends.

They disclosed that all his team mates thought he was lying on the field because of tiredness not knowing he was fighting for his life.

He was quickly rushed to Kofikrom SDA Clinic where he was declared dead on arrival. But doubting his death, the family members proceeded to Juaboso Government Hospital where Nicholas was confirmed dead. The body was buried this morning.

The report says Anelka just came from Takoradi on Monday and met his untimely death on Tuesday evening.

According to the Assemblyman of the area, Honourable Stephen Anobil, Anelka had come to the neighborhood called “Mafia” because of a Soccer Gala he had organised for the youth scheduled for Sunday.

“Kofi’s death has brought activities in the community to a standstill. He was a very good player who was very promising. The cause of his death couldn’t be ascertained by the doctors. They did not tell us whether he had any sickness already or died of cardiac arrest”, Hon. Anobil said.
