Football development policy has failed - Koufie

Ex Ghana FA boss Ben Koufie says the country has failed in its football development policy due to the lack of funds.

Ghana is noted as the football hub of Africa with the frequent churning out of talents from the juvenile ranks.

The senior national team, the Black Stars is currently dominated by youngster who came through the juvenile ranks – with a frequent reference to the world-conquering Ghana U20 squad of 2009.

But former GFA boss Ben Koufie feels these eruption of talents is at a diminishing rate with no ‘meaningful’ football development project mainly because of the lack of resources which he believes must come from the state.

“We are not doing well in football development and it has to do mainly with lack of funding,” he told Radio Gold.

“If you rely solely on the football association, then no meaningful development can take place.

“Football development especially in African countries are always supported by the government.”
