Soccer League Resumes 7 June

Ghana's Premier Soccer League which was suspended following the May 9 disaster at the Accra Sports Stadium will resume 7 June.

Ghana Football Association on Tuesday said in a statement that defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak will play Liberty Professionals in an outstanding match. Full fixtures would resume on June 10.

The statement said Ghana would play Lesotho in African Cup of Nations qualifier at Kumasi Sports Stadium.

On 20 June Accra Hearts of Oak would play its last outstanding match against Real Tamale United.

At least 126 soccer fans died during a stampede at the Accra Sports Stadium when police fired teargas into the stands from where fans were throwing plastic chairs onto the field during a league match. Hearts won the match 2-1.
