Accra, July 8, GNA - Ambition, Nii Armah and Boxing One Net will on Friday, July 30 stage five World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title fights at the Kanashie Sports Complex in Accra.

Alhaji Tofik, a director of the promotion syndicate told the GNA Sports on Thursday that the championship fights were to fill vacancies in the WBO structure on the African continent.

He said most of the boxers were Ghanaians, who had through hard work gained recognition from the Organisation to sit on top of the African thrown as WBO Africa champions.

Alhaji Tofik said winners of the crunch fixtures on July 30 would be shoved up in status to challenge for more prestigious titles and advised all boxers on the bill to prepare adequately and distinguish themselves to merit the championship belts.

The promoter said Kaneshie Sports Complex was chosen as the venue because it was very spacious and easily accessible to communities which patronage boxing.

Outlining the bouts, Alhaji Tofik said the main card would involve super welterweights, Osumanu Adama and M. Setegbe from the Republic of Benin while the under cards would feature Ben "Congo Soldier" Ankrah versus Bilal Mohammed in a lightweight fray.

Sumaila Badu challenges Jonathan Yartey for the bantamweight belt while Theo "Jupiter" Quaye fights Ali Alabi for the featherweight belt. The promoter said two other fights would be announced soon and called on boxing lovers to expect a night of boxing excitement.
