Fatau Dauda seals Orlando Pirates move

Goal has been informed by one of the Pirates officials that the negotiations between Ashanti Gold CEO Cudjoe Fianoo and Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza went smoothly.

Fianoo and Khoza met on Wednesday to discuss a possible transfer of Ghanaian number one Fatau Dauda from AshGold to Pirates in the new season.

According to the Pirates official, the deal was reached and the 28-year-old shot stopper will finalize his move to Parktown in the next few weeks.

“The meeting went smoothly and the two parties agreed on the player’s transfer. Dauda is almost a Pirates player. The deal will be finalized once he’s finished with the national duty and he also be given time to see his family, but he will be with us for pre-season,” the Pirates official told Goal.

Dauda has reportedly cost Pirates a fortune, but the Ghanaian will certainly bring experience to the Pirates side that failed to defend all of their three titles last season.

The goalkeeper is believed to be happy with the Pirates move, but he expects a tough competition from the current first choice and Bafana keeper Senzo Meyiwa.

Meanwhile, Pirates have not concluded striker Yakubu Mohammed’s deal as they are also chasing Sundowns’ Nyasha Mushekwi.

However, Mohammed is expected to sign with Pirates should the Buccaneers fail to strike a deal with Sundowns, but Mushekwi seems to be their priority right now.
