The striker who plays for 2 tier side was the talking point as his two goals overturned a 1-0 deficit to aid Local Black Stars beat their counterparts from Ivory Coast on Sunday in the first leg of the African Nations Championship game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.

Ivory Coast who entered into this game with their team A national team coach Michel Dussuyer, shot into the lead through Sangare Ibrahim in the 33 minute, but Joel Fameyeh, a player for 2nd tier side Asokwa Deportivo who made a surprising start brought Ghana level on the 45 minute mark.

Back from recess Ghana who want another appearance in the CHAN pushed more men upfront and the introduction of Kwesi Donsu, Emmanuel Osei, Fuseini Nuhu changed the tempo of the game and eventually got the much needed three points in the 89 minute through the sensational wizkid Joel Fameyeh again.

This win has given Maxwell Konadu’s charges some comfort entering into the 2 leg in a fortnight’s time in Ivory Coast.

The team with a better a head to head after the two legs will appear in the 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) to be staged in Rwanda.

Ghana were the runners-up of the 2014 competition held in South Africa, losing on penalties to Libya.
