Muntari - Too expensive for Portsmouth

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp fears he could be priced out of a move for Sulley Muntari due to the player's impressive World Cup showing.

The Ghana international is one of several of the Black Stars to have caught the attention of Premiership bosses, but it now appears that his price could prohibit Portsmouth.

Redknapp has been impressed with the powerful midfielder, who currently plies his trade in Serie A with Udinese, but has now denied he has lodged a bid.

A figure in the region of ?4.2 million has been mooted and whilst this may have been enough to prise him prior to events in Germany, it now seems it would take nearer ?7 million.

Bolton and Blackburn have also been credited with holding an interest but it is Redknapp that appears to be at the head of the queue.

''The player impressed me when I saw him but we have not made a firm offer,'' Redknapp told the Daily Express.

''There have been suggestions we put in a ?4.2 million bid but it would take a lot more than that to get him because he had a good World Cup.''
