FIFA rejects Ismaily’s $145,000 claim against Kotoko

FIFA Players' Status Committee has rejected a US$145,000 claim against Asante Kotoko by Egyptian club Ismaily FC.

Ismaily dragged Kotoko to the world's football governing body after they were outsmarted by fellow Egyptian side Smouha FC in signing the striker Abdul Aziz Yusif in 2014.

They blamed Kotoko for deceit and went to FIFA for the club to pay US$100,000 being the agreed transfer fee they would have paid for the player's services.

Ismaily also wanted an additional US$45,000 compensation for inducement of breach and a ban on Kotoko from registering new players (locally and internationally) for two consecutive registration periods.

Ashford Tettey-Oku's Offside Consult represented Kotoko and argued their case and that led FIFA Players' Status Committee Single Judge Geoff Thompson to reject all claims by Ismaily and upheld Kotoko's defence.
