FIFA "frustrating" Frimpong's Ghana switch?

Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong is frustrated at the way the world Football governing body, FIFA is handling his nationality switch from England to Ghana, his country of birth.

The Edwinase-Kwadaso born Arsenal midfielder who holds a British citizenship’s decision to represent Ghana at the international level has been much publicized for well over a year now of which the Ghana Football Association has taken the necessary steps to get their ‘son’.

Footy-Ghana can confirm that Frimpong signed and presented all necessary documents to FIFA declaring his decision to play his international football for Ghana back in September last year.

FIFA in response to a letter from the Ghana FA asking for a clearance to have Frimpong feature for the country interestingly sent a reply directing the GFA to the federations of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland to know whether he ever featured for them.

By July this year, footy-Ghana.com can reveal two of the above mentioned countries (England and Scotland) had cleared Frimpong of having not featured for their senior teams. The Welsh and Irish FA were at the time yet to send their confirmation to the Ghana Football Association.

After over a year, the world Football governing body this week sent back the documents the young Arsenal midfielder signed declaring his decision to represent Ghana asking him to re-sign because it has been over six months long.

A frustrated Frimpong tells footy-Ghana.com he fears something more was going on with regards to the repeated delays of his switch, “I really feel stressed by the continuous delay of this process. It is really frustrating; maybe I’m not cut to play for Ghana because I have done everything required of me yet, I’ve not been cleared.

“It’s been over a year and still on-going. I thought they would be pleased to see a young player willing to play for his country. Something just isn’t right but I hope this time, my situation will be sorted out quickly.

Footy-Ghana can confirm that Frimpong since receiving the FIFA communique pended his signature to the necessary areas on the document and forwarded it to the Association.
