FIFA asks extra documents on Frimpong's racial incident

The International Association of Football Federations (FIFA) has requested the Russian Football Union (RFU) to submit additional documents regarding last month’s incident with FC Ufa midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, an RFU official said on Tuesday.

Ghanaian player Frimpong has been handed a two-match ban after raising a finger to the crowd during the July 17 with FC Spartak Moscow.

Frimpong complained he had been subjected to monkey chants as Ufa played 2-2 with Spartak in an opening match of the Russian football championship.

Artur Grigoryants, the head of the RFU Disciplinary Committee, told TASS that “FIFA had requested the full text of the RFU ruling [on the Frimpong case] and video materials.”

“FIFA is planning no inquiry,” he added.

FIFA has already asked the RFU to submit a report on the incident, which was forwarded on July 28.
