Exhibition On Ghana-Britain Relations Underway

Accra, Aug 11, - A week-long exhibition mounted by the British Council and depicting Britain's relationship with Ghana from the colonial era to the post-independence period opened in Accra today. It was characterized by pictorial presentations labelled ''Beginnings to future friends'' and books on Ghana's political development and contemporary Britain dubbed ''The Rising Black Star'' and authored by Ghanaian and British writers. The exhibition which opened in London in June, this year, is British Council's contribution to Ghana's 40th independence anniversary celebration. It will travel to Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast and Tamale. Britain formally colonized the Gold Coast (Ghana ) in 1847 and granted independence to its model colony in 1957. Its investment in Ghana is in the region of 500 million pounds sterling.
