Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has donated GH₵100,000 to support Ghana Premier League side, Real Tamale United (RTU).

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress made the donation after a meeting with the leadership of the team.

RTU has struggled to raise funds to aid their campaign in the Ghana Premier League.

The CEO of RTU, Zakaria Safianu, remarked that the donation will go a long way to sustain the club's competitiveness in the domestic league.

John Mahama is a former member of RTU. He worked for the team when the club was formerly known as the Northern Blues.

Currently, RTU is at the bottom of the Ghana Premier League, with 28 points after 29 games and could be relegated by the end of the season.
