15 year old Evans Omani remains upbeat about his FC Nania’s chances of staging a successful defence of their MTN FA Cup title so much the youngster insists he and his teammates will give their best to go all the way again.
Omani scored the only goal as Nania staged perhaps the biggest shock in Ghanaian FA Cup history when beating Asante Kotoko in last year’s final having also beaten the league champions Berekum Chelsea in the semis.
Omani also netted the winning penalty as Nania again confirmed superiority over Chelsea to win the Alhaji Sly Tetteh Super Cup via shoot-out after a 1-1 draw.
Now as they prepare to face former top flight league champions Great Olympics in the preliminary tie of 2011/12 MTN FA Cup tomorrow, Omani is determined to re-live the heroics of last season once again.
He told ALL SPORTS:
“We hope it will be well but it’s the field that will decide. We know all eyes will be on us that’s why we have to work harder. It will not be easy but we want to do it again so we are working harder than ever before. We will be ready for any challenge.”
Both Olympics and Nania play in Zone 3A of the Division One League and Omani was on target when Nania defeated the wonder club 3-0 in the second tier league last season. The youngster is keen on a repeat of history.
“If God permits, it’s my wish to score again. But what is important is to help my team to win and hopefully we shall be victorious,” Omani said.
