Essien Voted Player of the Month

Lyon midfielder Michael Essien has been named French Ligue 1 player of the month for October.

The Ghana international has been in terrific form for Lyon in the last few weeks, helping them to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

The 22-year-old beat Monaco striker Emmauel Adebayor into second place, with his Lyon team-mate Cris coming in third.
