Emmanuel Boateng handed maiden Ghana call-up

Spain-based speedy winger Emmanuel Boateng has been handed his first call-up to Ghana's national team to play in this month's friendlies, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The Levante player, who can also play as an attacker, was called up for the first time on Monday following an impressive season with the La Liga outfit.

The 21-year-old secured his maiden invite on Monday morning after his Spanish La Liga received a letter from the Ghana FA for the winger to join the Black Stars.

A club official told Ghana's leading football news outfit, Ghanasoccernet.com, that they have received an invitation for their player to be released to join the national team.

The winger is expected to be with the Ghana national team for the friendly matches against Japan and Iceland.

Boateng has scored three goals in 23 appearances for Levante this season as a winger and his performances have drawn the attention of Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah.

As confirmed by sources of the Valencian club, Boateng will join the Black Stars on May 20 to prepare these two friendly matches with the four-time African champions.

Ghana will play in Yokohama on May 30 against Japan , while the second match will be in Reykjavik against Iceland on June 7.

This is the first time Boateng is being called to play for the senior national team of Ghana even though he has played for the country's U20 side, the Black Satellites, in the past.

The great season for the striker has earned him a call that he had been waiting for for weeks following his good showing for Levante.

Recently the Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu visited the player in Valencia to monitor his performances and interact with his coaches.
