Elmina Sharks triumph on penalties to evict rivals

Elmina Sharks summoned guts to beat regional rivals Ebusua Dwarfs 6-5 on penalties at the Paa Kwesi Ndoum Sports Complex to reach the MTN FA Cup round of 16.

It was a nerve-wracking shoot-out and captain Isaac Mensah coolly put away the final kick after Dwarfs’ Hubert Ampah has squandered the club’s sixth.

The two teams could not find the back of the net after regulation time.

If the first five kicks, Bright Lukman missed for Dwarfs and Suraj Ibrahim also missed.

The match was filled with tension after Dwarfs denied Sharks promotion to the Premier League last season in the Division One League Zone II.

Also on Sunday, Okwahu United defeat Dunkwa United 2-1 at Nkawkaw.

Bechem United thumped Sunyani Liberty 5-0 at home; Real Tamale United 3-2 Steafast FC.
