Egypt’s friendly against UAE cancelled

Egypt was scheduled to play against United Arab Emirates on Thursday Egypt was scheduled to play against United Arab Emirates on Thursday

The international friendly game between Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been cancelled.

The match was scheduled to be played on Thursday at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium ahead of the Pharaohs’ final 2018 World Cup qualifier against Ghana in Cape Coast.

But organisers failed to put together the friendly due to some difficulties, www.3news.com gathered.

The match was expected to be the first test for new UAE coach Alberto Zaccheroni, who took charge of the Gulf country after the departure of Edgardo Bauza in October. A friendly with Uzbekistan on Tuesday will, however, serve that purpose.

Egypt will, as a result of the cancellation, travel to Ghana directly for the game on Sunday.

The Pharaohs have already laid hands on the single ticket from Group E after beating Congo 2-1 at home in their last qualifier. They will travel to Russia to play in the global tournament next year after a 27-year absence.
