Edwin Gyasi reveals reason for CSKA Sofia move

Ghana winger Edwin Gyasi says he desire to play big matches in Europe and win trophies with a club with a big history is the reason why he joined CSKA Sofia.

The 26-year-old winger sealed the deal in Sofia on Thursday morning to join the club with a big history with players like Stoichkov and Berbatov playing for the side in the past.

Gyasi put pen to paper to the deal to complete the move ending interest from several English sides who were reported to be interested in his signature.

He became the fifth player to join CSKA Sofia this autumn after the signing of Roland Alberg, Jérferson Teles, Jean Carlos Blanco and Andre Montero.

The Ghana international says his desire to achieve big things in his career was what drove him to sign for the capital-based club.

"I cannot wait to start training with the team," Gyasi said after sealing the deal with one of the biggest clubs in Bulgaria.

"I am glad to be part of the biggest Bulgarian club, of which world-renowned players such as Stoichkov and Berbatov have played for.

"The ambition for trophies and big matches in Europe has brought me to CSKA.

"Roland Albergen further told me about the fantastic crowd and good atmosphere at the club."

Gyasi was born on 1 July 1991 in Amsterdam, he is 1.83m tall and acts as a winger on both flanks but can also play behind the striker.

He is the product of the AZ Alkmaar academy school where he was a teammate with CSKA Sofia midfielder Roland Alberg.

Then the career of a fast-dribbling footballer shows him playing for the top-flight sides of De Graafschap, Twente, Heracles and Roda.

In the last two seasons, Gyan has been successful in the Scandinavian side, with 53 games and 12 goals for Alesund.

He has been signed to boost the squad as the second-placed side CSKA are just one point behind leaders Ludogorets with six matches remaining.
