Black Stars goalkeeper's trainer Edward Ansah has defended the decision to leave Richard Kingson out of the Ghana squad but says the veteran goalkeeper still has a future with the side.
Kingson has been without a club since the end of the the last premier league season which forced Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic' hand in dropping him from the initial 25-man squad for the Nations Cup.
Kingson's huge experience spanning five Nations Cups and two World Cups has been cited as reason why he should have been in a squad especially with all three goalkeepers under 25-years and light on Nations Cup experience.
But Ansah says the technical team was left with no option than to drop Kingson and suggest he will get a look in again if he starts playing active football.
"He is not having a club, he says he is training with a club but is not attached and that influences with the coaches decision," Ansah said. "I believe in Richard, I believe he has a lot. If he gets a club and he starts playing then we would see.
"We don't have to retire Richard prematurely if he doesn't want to. I cant really say that. He depends on whether he starts playing then the coach will give him second thoughts. If he starts playing and plays regularly what stops him?"
