Ebo Quansah writes to GNA Sports

Accra, Oct. 21, GNA - Mr Ebo Quansah, a Veteran Sports Journalist, has written to GNA Sports claiming he was misrepresented in its report "Sepp Blatter Must Resign if" of Wednesday 13 October 2010. The following is his unedited rejoinder: "I write to draw your attention to a serious mis-representation of facts attributed to me in the reportage, I am told by the Ghana News Agency, of the press conference I addressed at the International Press Centre in Accra on Wednesday, October 13, 2010.

"In most reports in various media outlet in and outside the country, using the GNA as the reference point, I was quoted as having demanded the resignation of the President of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), if it turned out that he did indeed gave permission to the President of this Republic, Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills, to investigate the Ghana Football Association. Nowhere in my prepared speech or answers to questions put to me did I make any such pronouncement.

"What I did say in answer to a question that sought to know my reaction if it turned out that the FIFA President did indeed give the permission. What I did say in answer is that I would be surprised. I said nothing that would infer my calling on the FIFA boss to resign. The false statement has been given wide publicity in Ghana and abroad.

"I would therefore plead with your office to kindly direct the Sports Department to effect the necessary correction. The said attribute has caused a serious embarrassment to me, as a sports journalist with several years experience."
