Eastern Regional Chapter of Hearts Ladies Club inaugurated

Koforidua, May 5, GNA - The Board Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, Mr Commodore Mensah has said that communication giants, MTN, the main sponsors of the Club has signed a deal to reduce the call cost for about half of 100,000 members who would subscribe to its network. He said that the deal with MTN has however not been fulfilled so far because the Club has not been to get half the number of committed and dues paying members to take advantage of the facility "even though we have thousands of supporters".

Mr Commodore Mensah said this in an address at the inauguration of the Eastern Regional Chapter of the Hearts Ladies club in Koforidua. He urged members of the Club, especially the Ladies to use their influence to shore up more support for the Club and to endeavor to go to stadium to lend their moral and unflinching support towards the success of the Club.

Ms Vincentia Deku, the National President of the Ladies Club, said the members decided to come together to organize more women supporters across the country to contribute towards the growth of the team and not to just make noise without the needed support to the team. She said that similar Clubs have so far been formed in the Greater Accra, Central and the Eastern Regions and thanked the leadership for recognizing them and affording them the opportunity to serve on the national committee. The 15-member executive which has Ms Hariatu Mohammed as the Chairperson was sworn into office to steer the affairs of the Club for the next three years.

Mr Alex Bossman, a member of Hearts called on the leadership of the team to review the policy whereby one is required to pay last year's dues before he or she becomes a full member of the club. "This policy where one is required to pay dues from last year before one becomes a member is not appealing because if one decides to become a member in 2009 why should he be made to pay from 2008" he pointed out. Mr Bossman who is an ardent supporter of the club said the Ladies Club was not only a supporters union but a recognized group that have over the years contributed to the success of the Club and have continued to pay their dues towards its development. He appealed to members of the Ladies Club to ensure that they pay the GHC 1 dues by texting to MTN to help make sustain the facility to support the Club in its growth and development.
