ECOWAS Games: Nigeria leads Ghana on medal table

Nigeria has overtaken hosts Ghana on the medal table at the ongoing Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Games.
As at day three, Nigeria have amassed 21 medals, two more than Ghana, who led the table after the second day.
Nigeria, the dominant force in the athletics events have grabbed 10 gold, eight silver and three bronze so far whilst Ghana has five gold, seven silver and seven bronze for their efforts.
Niger occupies third place with one gold and one bronze each, whilst Togo has managed just a solitary gold medal.
Mali has amassed two medals (one silver and one bronze) with Liberia having one silver. There are two bronze medals each for Benin and Sierra Leone whilst Burkina Faso follow in that order with just one bronze.
Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal have yet to land any medal at the second edition of the sub-regional games which ends on Friday, June 22.
The participating countries are vying for honors in Athletics, Boxing, Handball, Volleyball and Traditional Wrestling.**
